We are always seeking interns to join our Good Grit team! We have a number of internships available in our Art, Editorial, and Digital Departments. Your internship will give you real-world experience and provide you with the knowledge and resources you need to further your career goals. Photography

As a photography intern you will have the opportunity to work on photoshoot scouting and coordination. You will work alongside the senior art director to assign photographers and place photos, take photos for publication and maintain online photography. You will be successful in this role if you have a broad understanding of photography, have a keen eye for composition and have prior photography experience. We look for someone who is creative, hard working, organized and timely. Interns must be able to work in the Birmingham area and have completed their sophomore year of college.

Design

As a design intern you will have the opportunity to design graphics for social media promotion, create in-house promotional material, sketch design concepts and contribute artistic thought to the team’s effort. You will be successful in this role if you have a keen eye, understand the Adobe Creative Cloud, and know basic design elements. We look for someone who is independent, driven and creative to fill this role. Interns must be able to work in the Birmingham area and have completed their sophomore year of college.

Videography, Photography

As a videography intern under Good Grit's digital department, you will have the opportunity to create videos for our social media platforms. You will work closely with other digital team members as well as our art department to create videos that portray the Character of the South. We are seeking an intern with strong video film and editing skills. Interns must be able to work in the Birmingham area and have completed their sophomore year of college.

Social Media

As a social media intern, you have the opportunity to curate and post content on Good Grit's social media platforms. You will work closely with the art and editorial departments to build creative and brand appropriate content. We're seeking an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of digital and social media, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. Interns must be able to work in the Birmingham area and have completed their sophomore year of college.

Merchandising

As a merchandising intern, you will have the opportunity to curate Makers from across the South and aid in the progression of Good Grit's newest ecommerce platform, The Merc. Merchandising interns will work closely with the digital department to build a diverse range of Makers for customers to shop from. We're seeking an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of the ecommerce environment, including customer trends, customer tracking, customer service, product display and photography, inventory, and procedure. Interns must be able to work in the Birmingham area and have completed their sophomore year of college.

Editorial Content

As an editorial content intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute articles to the web and in print. You will help edit copy and brainstorm ideas for content as needed. You will work closely with the Digital Coordinator and the Managing Editor to ensure that our content is timely, creative, and relevant to our audience. We are looking for someone with strong writing skills who is a self-starter, creative, innovative, and eager to learn. Interns must be able to work in the Birmingham area and have completed their sophomore year of college.

Copy Editing

As a copy editing intern, you will have the opportunity to copy edit articles for both print and digital, along with the possibility of contributing articles to the web and in print. You will help edit copy and brainstorm ideas for content as needed. You will work closely the Managing Editor to ensure that our content subscribes to current style guides. We are looking for someone with strong writing skills who is a self-starter, creative, innovative, and eager to learn. Interns must be able to work in the Birmingham area and have completed their sophomore year of college.
