Famous for its traditional culture and archeology, it is no surprise Bali is called “the island of the gods.”

Surfing in Bali is one of the island’s most popular pastimes, helped along by especially gorgeous beaches in the south and north.
You should at least try the babi guling (suckling pig), nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice) and sate lembat. Bali's restaurant scene is world class, with some of the most incredible food you'll find anywhere in the world.
See Bali's World Heritage-listed rice terraces, watch a farmer herding his flock of ducks, see a woman perched sidesaddle on a motorbike on her way to the temple. Take a walk and meet the locals.
A few basic words of Bahasa Indonesia will take you a long way in Bali. Try selamat pagi (good morning), tolong (please) and terima kasih (thank you), for starters.
