Relax on the River
Words by Katie White
In the heart of southern Kentucky, Bowling Green is known for its historic neighborhoods and the National Corvette Museum, but it’s also a great place to spend some time outdoors. Though taking on the southern summer heat can be daunting, we know the must-visit spots in Bowling Green for you to keep it cool.
Lost River Cave: This cave is filled with water, so you have to explore it through a guided boat tour! Caves stay a cool 55 degrees year round, making this spot a perfect place to cool off in the summer.
Beech Bend Amusement Park: Splash in the wave pool, float along the lazy river, or twist and turn down water slides all summer long. Splash pads and rides are available for families and kids of all ages—adults love it too!
Shanty Hollow Lake: This hidden gem is perfect for fishing—and it has hiking trails and biking paths. The common, short one mile trail opens up to a creek bed with a 20 foot waterfall to cool off on—and you can also load in a kayak or canoe and paddle around!
Riverside Cabin sits perfectly on Barren River with gorgeous views and scenes and direct access into the river. The remote location is the perfect place to unplug for a cozy getaway.
