Here’s the low down!
The list of activities available at the farm is endless, and continues to grow and evolve with each season. FarmLinks golf course is nothing short of world class and is recognized as the #1 Public Course (among many other accolades). That being said, golf is a great reason to visit and certainly a popular one. However, it is far from the only reason to come to Pursell Farms.
The rolling hills and three thousand plus acres of Alabama terrain make it the perfect place to connect with the outdoors. Visit the Orvis Shooting Grounds for a round of sporting clays or to schedule an outdoor adventure such as hunting or fishing. Feeling extra adventurous? Check out the UTV Mountain Experience or Guided Horseback Rides (available for all experience levels)! Of course, there are plenty of leisure activities available such as yoga on a stunning mountaintop, boating excursions on scenic Lay Lake, or a treatment at Spring House Spa. Beginning or ending your day with a walk or bike ride on the trails comes highly recommended. And if you’re visiting in the warmer months, let the day slip away as you relax poolside.
Pursell Farms is an easily-drivable destination from many Southern cities, but no matter how short your drive may be, we highly recommend including overnight stay as a part of your experience. Lodging options at the farm are plentiful, including the brand new Inn, cottages, cabins, Parker Lodge, the Orvis Farmhouse, and the historic Hamilton Place. So whether you’re travelling with a group or seeking an intimate getaway, the perfect ‘home away from home’ awaits! Whichever you choose, you will find that each of these accommodations include their very own unique character and design, and each one is decorated by Ellen Pursell herself!
Now, we know what you’ve been thinking: amazing activities and luxurious accommodations sound great, but what about the food? Let us assure you, you will be pleasantly surprised by the exquisite dining options at Pursell Farms! A breakfast buffet is available each weekend at Arrington—complete with a full omelet-making station, waffles, fruit, and more (you can also order a la carte). For lunch, we suggest visiting Old Tom’s Pub where you will find a variety of casual (but delicious) options like pizza, sandwiches, and other snacks. We highly recommend the ‘Goat in the Garden’ pizza and the fried green tomato sliders! The Clubhouse Grille is another great option for a quick bite (breakfast or lunch) before setting off for the day’s adventures! Insider tip: grab a breakfast sandwich at the Clubhouse Grille and enjoy it back in your room or in one of the many outdoor lounging areas throughout the property! There is no better way to end your day than at Arrington, Pursell Farms’ newest addition. This fine dining experience will not only satisfy your taste buds like never before, but the sunset view across the 18th hole is so great, photographs can’t do it justice. Fresh, local ingredients are used to create every dish on the menu at Arrington, and the menu changes with the season—as it should. Our strongest recommendation when dining at Arrington: trust your server’s suggestion, and definitely don’t miss out on dessert!
