Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are known for their tropical beach lifestyle and have been a hot tourist destination for decades. With friendly faces left and right, the locals also know the best locations for cocktails.
From famous mules to craft beer, there are many coastal cocktails to cool you down from the Alabama heat. No matter how you like them– sweet, frozen, salty, or on the rocks, there is a local concoction you are sure to love. Below are some of our favorite places to get a drink this summer.
The Royal Oyster –Mini’s Maple Magic
Recently opening its doors again due to the pandemic, The Royal Oyster is back and better than ever to serve up local favorites and one-of-a-kind drinks like Mini’s Maple Magic. This drink is a delicious blend of Maker’s Mark Bourbon, maple syrup, lemon, mint, and soda. This is the perfect drink to enjoy on their beachy back deck.
The Hangout– All-American Mule
This Gulf Shores staple is the perfect place to go if you’re looking for a lively time that can also be family friendly. Open all day, you can never go wrong with a classic. Their All-American Mule is nothing short of refreshing, and the view of the Gulf is to die for.
Lulu’s–Jet Ski Killer (blended)
This family-friendly restaurant has the perfect atmosphere for everyone. Take a break and soak up all of the good vibes of Lulu’s while enjoying their Jet Ski Killer. It is sure to be a crowd favorite with two kinds of run, Blue Curacao, Pina Colada Mix and banana puree.
Big Beach Brewing Co.– Craft Beer
If specialty cocktails aren’t your thing, a beer is the perfect drink to quench your thirst in the summer. There is live music on the weekends that only adds to the carefree atmosphere.
Brick and Spoon - Bloody Mary
More than just a drink – it's an experience. Customers can customize each drink with their choice of vodka, spices, and seven different veggies. And if you’re really wanting to go the extra mile, they offer a variety of meat and cheese to top it off.
Fisher’s at Orange– Claro Que Si
Fisher’s has the best of both worlds– a nice, traditional dining room upstairs with a dockside kitchen with kids running around and music playing. This gorgeous drink is inspired by the beaches of Mexico – starting off with Tequila with a splash of Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur and a hint of Citric Acid.
Playa– Pink Pineapple
This gorgeous waterfront restaurant has menu items for everyone. If you’re in the mood for a drink with a punch, the Pink Pineapple is the one for you– crafted with tequila, vodka, fresh cactus pear, and pomegranate.
The Gulf- Blackberry Mojito
The name says it all. The Gulf encapsulates the Alabama shore, with their tables sitting on the beach, this fruity, refreshing beverage will keep you coming back.
