Editor's Letter: Beholden 2024

If you live within 30 minutes of me, you know there’s nothing I love more than spending time with my people. Whether it’s a movie night at home, trivia at the local brewery, kicking a soccer ball around at the park, or grabbing a bite at the newest spots in town—if it means hanging out with the ones I love, I’m all in.

Community, at its core, is about connection—it’s the feeling of fellowship that comes from shared attitudes, interests, and goals. That’s what this season, and this issue, is all about: taking a moment to reflect, acknowledge gratitude, and cherish those meaningful moments with family and friends that shape our lives.

There are endless ways to build community, big and small. It could be offering a hot meal to someone in need (pXX Comal story), making sure everyone feels included (pXX N/A cocktail story), giving thoughtful gifts to the people you care about (pXX Black Belt Gift Guide story), or hosting a cozy get-together (pXX Holiday party story). Places like Cartersville, Georgia—and the other towns featured in this issue—have such a strong sense of community that it can make people want to put down roots. (pXX)

Community makes our lives richer, and we hope this issue inspires you to lean into yours. Tell your friends you love them, lend a helping hand, or just be there to listen. As you look back on this year, remember that through all the ups and downs, you were never alone. And then, let’s celebrate.
