Stay:
Bottleworks Hotel, located in the Bottleworks District, found a home in the historic Indianapolis Coca-Cola Bottling Plant. The art deco interior has been carefully restored, creating a feast for the eyes around every corner. When you’re ready to get out and explore, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment are just steps away.
Eat:
Downtown, the Gallery Pastry Bar offers pastries that could rival any French café. Croissant fritters, croissants and gravy, and croissant French toast are just a few of the mouthwatering items you’ll find on the brunch menu.
A James Beard semifinalist, Bluebeard is a farm-to-table experience that you won’t soon forget. Even the simplest menu items, such as the assortment of pickled veg, will please your palate. Get there early—they don’t take reservations.
The historic Fountain Square district is home to Bovaconti Coffee. Its beans come exclusively from Indiana roasters, and the atmosphere makes you want to sit and stay awhile.
Play:
The Indianapolis Cultural Trail—a world-class, protected urban bike and pedestrian path—connects six cultural districts in the city. The eight-mile trail—in the midst of an expansion—features botanical gardens and public art as you walk or bike between neighborhoods.
The largest brewery in Indianapolis, Sun King Brewing, has won four gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival. The taproom is open to all ages and has food for sale alongside its selection of craft beer.
Shop:
Fans of the HGTV show Good Bones may recognize Two Chicks District Co., a home goods store owned by the series’ stars. The store contains a small bistro, where you can grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
