New Year’s Eve in Tupelo

Tupelo is ringing in the new year with the ultimate New Year’s Eve party

After the pandemic put a stop to most New Years’ Eve parties last year, ringing in the new year right is a top priority on many people’s to-do lists. While it may be easy to assume that major cities like New York or Los Angeles are the only places to do that, a new destination down South has emerged as a must-visit for any NYE celebration: Tupelo.

The Northeast Mississippi city has plans to once again host the ultimate New Year’s Eve party on the streets of Downtown Tupelo. Sponsored by Century Construction and produced by the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association and Tupelo Convention & Visitors Bureau, Tupelo’s New Year’s Eve Party kicks off at 6:00 pm. Music on the downtown streets will begin at 8:15 pm, and it will include a diverse line-up of bands performing on two different stages set up downtown. Throughout the evening, there will be bands to keep everyone dancing until midnight. DJ Keith de Soul Explosion starts the party off on the Broadway Street Stage before Get Sideways comes on around 10:15 pm to perform a variety of 90s and 2000s pop rock hits. City Mix will perform contemporary, pop, hip-hop, and R&B favorites on the Fairpark Stage, followed up by a huge variety of dance favorites from Motown and rock to country and pop by 8South.

Beyond the diverse line-up of bands, the annual event includes a night of fun for the whole family. KidsFest will offer a variety of children’s activities including a kid’s music stage and dance party, sidewalk chalk, a ball drop, photo op, and many other surprises in store for those who want to celebrate early and call it a night.

The party will culminate with a countdown to midnight from the Fairpark Stage. Plans include fireworks and a ball drop.
