Save Room
The renovated Hotel Clermont is a destination for foodies
Words by Ashley Locke
In the heart of Atlanta on Ponce de Leon Avenue sits Hotel Clermont. Built in 1924, the hotel has been thoughtfully restored—historic elements preserved alongside modern finishes. The hotel offers bunks, rooms, and suites, all elegantly designed—but the hip vibe isn’t the only reason travelers flock to Hotel Clermont. They also come for the food.
Tiny Lou’s, the hotel’s French-American Brasserie, keeps things local, seasonal, and satisfying. Every menu item is a favorite, with a tantalizing wine list to match. From the house-made bread at the start of your meal to the patisserie at the finish, you’ll savor every bite.
The man behind the menu, Executive Chef Jon Novak, moved to Germany at age 3. During his time living in Europe, he picked up a variety of techniques and flavors that helped him develop the food at Tiny Lou’s. His restaurant career began as a busboy, but 14 years and a lot of hard work later, he found himself plating dishes instead of cleaning them. With Michelin Star experience under his belt as well, the dining room couldn’t be in better hands.
You should always save room for dessert, but you especially won’t want to miss the treats created by Executive Pastry Chef: Charmain Ware. Bed-ridden after a car accident, she spent her recovery time watching kitchen shows and developing a passion for food. After attending the 180 Kitchen Culinary Program, she began working as a pastry chef and never looked back—you can taste the devotion to her craft.
Atlanta is an ever-growing destination, bringing visitors from all over the world. With comfortable rooms, stunning views, a hip rooftop bar, and top tier dining at Tiny Lou’s, Hotel Clermont is a place to visit, not just a place to stay.
