The 20-Year Legacy of DCWAF

For two decades, the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF) has proven that good wine and good deeds go hand in hand. What started in 2005 as a gathering of passionate wine lovers has grown into one of Northwest Florida’s most powerful philanthropic engines, raising over $32 million to support local children in need. Through a series of world-class wine and culinary events, DCWAF isn’t just connecting people with great food and drink—they’re transforming lives and creating lasting change for families across the region.

At the heart of DCWAF’s mission is a commitment to improving the lives of children affected by health challenges, abuse, poverty, and more. The funds they raise are funneled into life-changing programs across the region. In 2023 alone, donations helped build homes for struggling families, provide free dental care to uninsured children, and offer mental health services to young people dealing with trauma. Local organizations like Emerald Coast Autism Center, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast, and Habitat for Humanity were able to expand their services, reaching more children and families than ever before.

One standout initiative this year was the support given to the Emerald Coast Autism Center, which used DCWAF’s funding to build a new learning center designed for teens entering the workforce. Meanwhile, the Children’s Volunteer Health Network continued its mission of providing free dental care to children who otherwise couldn’t afford it, ensuring no child in Northwest Florida has to suffer due to lack of medical care.

But the impact goes beyond health and education. Children in Crisis was able to provide safe housing for children who have been abused or abandoned, offering them stability during one of the hardest moments in their lives. Similarly, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast welcomed hundreds of students into after-school programs that give them a safe space to learn, grow, and thrive.

For 20 years, DCWAF has woven together the joy of food, wine, and community with a deep commitment to philanthropy. Through their work, they’re not only changing the lives of thousands of children but also strengthening the fabric of Northwest Florida. As they continue to raise their glasses, they’re raising hope for a brighter future—one bottle at a time.
