The power behind the partnerships of the Destin Charity Wine Auction
Words by Paige Townley
In April, the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF) marked a significant milestone: it raised an impressive $3.55 million for children in need in Northwest Florida during its 20th Annual Auction Weekend. This achievement underscores just how powerful charitable partnerships can be in creating lasting change in a community. Through the efforts of the DCWAF, charities that were once competitors have come together to share resources, best practices, and even physical assets to ensure they can do more for the children they serve.
For the annual fundraiser, DCWAF brings together 17 children’s charities and asks them to share and collaborate—something that’s almost unheard of. In the past, there was hesitation as these organizations were often vying for the same resources, the same donors, and in some cases, the same clients. However, over time, this sense of competition has transformed into a spirit of cooperation and mutual support. From shared resources like the CVHN (Children’s Volunteer Health Network) bus providing services in different locations to Boys and Girls Clubs helping other organizations with necessary supplies, the community has embraced the idea that collaboration magnifies their collective impact.

The results have been transformative.
Organizations are now routinely helping one another in ways that extend beyond the financial. For example, Westonwood Ranch and CVHN have partnered on projects, such as hygiene education programs and filling dental kits for the community. Habitat for Humanity has provided cabinets for medical facilities, while the Autism Center has received donated medical equipment to create spaces that help desensitize children to doctor visits. These partnerships foster deeper relationships, building stronger networks that make a profound difference in the lives of those in need.
Through the efforts of the DCWAF, charities that were once competitors have come together to share resources, best practices, and even physical assets to ensure they can do more for the children they serve.
One of the most striking elements of these collaborations is how they go beyond traditional volunteering. Beyond just donations, these groups are looking for ways to support each other and make each other’s mission more effective. They’re also learning from each other, whether it be sharing best practices or offering hands-on help, which allows them to better serve their clients, and the impact is felt throughout the region.
For many of these organizations, the DCWAF’s involvement has been nothing short of a lifeline. Without the funding and support from the auction, many of these children would not have access to the care and resources they so desperately need. DCWAF’s ability to foster collaboration and unity among charities has helped these organizations make a much larger, more sustainable impact on the community. By providing the necessary funding and resources to fuel these collaborations, DCWAF has empowered local organizations to do more, reach farther, and ensure that no child goes unserved.
