Montage Palmetto Bluff is synonymous with iconic beauty. Nestled along the May River in South Carolina’s iconic Lowcountry, the 20,000-acre community boasts nature preserves, wildlife, and picturesque villages. With so much to offer—from a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course to freshwater and saltwater fishing and water sports—it should be no surprise that Montage Palmetto Bluff has asserted itself as a sought-after escape for all things nature and outdoors, but the destination’s Lowcountry flare goes well beyond its atmosphere and offerings. The resort offers up some of the most unique and delicious fare in the region, and it’s offering a special dining option this September: Los Cabos in the Lowcountry.

In collaboration with Montage Los Cabos, the incredibly talented team from Mezcal are bringing the flavors of Mexico to the Lowcountry through the Mercados de Mexico tasting menu. The limited-time tasting menu is an authentic ode to Mexico’s culinary culture with a modern interpretation that is all their own. Mezcal is a contemporary oasis where world-class cuisine and service lead a gastronomic journey through the culture, tradition, and heritage of Mexico’s diverse epicurean landscapes. The eatery is known for its quintessential flavors, regionally sourced wines, tequilas and mezcals. Mezcal has a way with taking undiscovered favorites from generations-old family recipes, reimagining them with an eye for the unexpected – and the unforgettable.

The team is led by Chef Odin Rocha, Chef de Cuisine, who holds a degree in gastronomy from the Inter University Center for Advanced Studies in Mexico City and boasts nearly a decade of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industries. Chef Odin’s impressive career includes culinary posts at highly regarded resorts and restaurants throughout Mexico. He most recently served as chef de cuisine at 1826, the fine dining restaurant at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende. Prior to that, he held posts at AAA Five Diamond restaurant Brasserie Lipp, a traditional French restaurant in Mexico City and Trattoria Don Corleone.

“In my kitchen, I take care of three basic concepts, my team, the product, and the customers,” Chef Odin says. “Take care of your team, respect the product and make happy your customers. The culinary team at Mezcal is extraordinary and I look forward to sharing my love for traditional Mexican cuisine in a modern and creative way with the guests of Montage Palmetto Bluff.”
